Clun takes it's name from the river upon which it stands. It is situated on one of the main ancient drove roads from Wales along which the Welsh drove their animals to the markets in the Midlands and even London.
The village/town grew up around a Saxon church and later the Normans built a castle and pack horse bridge. As you can see the area is steeped in history. The historic town of Ludlow is only a short drive away where you can explore the narrow streets and alleys. It is considered to be one of the finest preserved mediaeval towns in the country.
Clun and the surrounding area is also renowned for its beautiful walks. The steep sided valleys lend themselves to fantastic views and varied scenery.
The Clun Valley is a "designated area of outstanding natural beauty" with lots of wildlife around every corner. It even has it's own breed of sheep, known as The "Clun Forest" breed.
It is a truly beautiful place in which to spend some quality time.
